The venue
City
Porto Alegre is the capital and largest city of the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. Founded in 1769 by Manuel Sepúlveda, its population of 1,481,019 inhabitants (2016) makes it the tenth most populous city in the country and the centre of Brazil’s fifth largest metropolitan area, with 4,405,760 inhabitants (2010).
The area includes attractions such as the Guaíba River shore, the Iberê Camargo Museum, Porto Alegre Botanical Garden, Moinhos de Vento Park, the Public Market and Farroupilha Park.
Centro Cultural UFRGS
The “Centro Cultural” in UFRGS is a historical building part of the architectural collection of the University. It is also part of the cultural heritage of Porto Alegre. It was the former Institute of Industrial Chemistry and it has an eclectic style, mixing different architectural languages. With a rigid, geometric shape, sobriety and predominance of straight lines, its front facade has Tuscan columns and female sculptures, on a balustrade pedestal, representing Chemistry. We look forward to welcoming all the participants at this beautiful venue.
